This month’s Greater Northern Business Spotlight is New Tripoli Bank.
New Tripoli Bank has been in business for over 100 years. Founded in 1910, the bank opened in New Tripoli on March 1 of that year. At the time, the Bank had carbide lights and a coal fired hot water heating system. The first day of business, the bank accepted $26,231 in deposits and made two loans (one for $67 and one for $263.90)! On May 14, 1968, the bank built a new office across the street from the original bank. The “teller line” was increased from one drawer to six drawers! November of 1999, a new office on Claussville Road in Orefield opened for business.
In 2011, the New Tripoli Bank was the only Pennsylvania bank that made the Independent Community Banker Association’s (ICBA) list for the top 20 banks (in our asset size). We achieved this distinction by having top performance levels in Return on Assets and Return on Equity.
New Tripoli Bank is truly a community bank. When a customer walks through our front doors, they are greeted by their name. We know our customers not only because they bank with us but because they are our local plumber, church member, garage owner, or neighbor. All the present members of the Board of Directors are local residents of the community and their families have been connected to the bank for a very long time.
In 2012, we will be moving our Consumer, Mortgage and Commercial lending team to a centralized location on the second floor of our Claussville office. This will give us better loan processing capabilities thereby improving customer service and loan request turnaround. The bank is also reviewing a renovation plan for the New Tripoli Office located on Madison Street as well.
We now offer a business interest checking account with a minimum deposit of $500. We are committed to staying on top of the latest technology that improves the banking experience of our customers. Who knows……maybe mobile banking will next!
