President's Message

February 2012

We started off the New Year with a great luncheon meeting. State Senator David Argall provided an all-encompassing update on the changes that will be affecting us at the state level. Special thanks to the Palmerton Chamber of Commerce for joining us in making this meeting a success not only through the active questions and answer session but in the networking with our members!

If you ever wondered, “when are they going to fix that intersection,” “I wish I knew who to contact about that road” or “how much longer will this construction last?” Well we should be able to answer those questions and more when we have Ron Young, Penn DOT District 5 Press officer featured at our February 7th meeting at the Otherside Restaurant in Neffs. Please make sure you to attend to find out what improvements and maintenance are slated for our community.

We follow up February’s meeting with a change up! We will be having a joint breakfast meeting with NACC at 7:30 a.m. on March 6 at Northern Lehigh Middle School. This meeting will feature district superintendents from Northern Lehigh, Northwestern Lehigh, Northampton and Parkland. Our roundtable discussion will address the current/future budget, the proposed voucher system and district foundation projects.

As with all our meetings, please make sure you get there early to network with your current and prospective customers! And bring a friend or associate - you’ll be glad you did.

Our board is also in the midst of selecting our Spirit Award recipient. As you are aware, this award recognizes the accomplishments of that special community volunteer. Thank you all for the many nominations. It was very heartwarming to see the number of citizens that are actively involved in our community. Watch for the upcoming award recipient announcement!

Speaking of community involvement, the Joint Venture Group has been hard at work in finishing the Slatington Trail Head. When complete this location will provide the necessary facilities for the many visitors who have come to enjoy the numerous trails and scenic beauty that our area has to offer. Please make plans to stop by!

We also want to recognize our Business of the Month-The Mill at Germansville. While the name has changed, the location, quality products and knowledgeable staff remain steadfast! If you are interested in being our featured business of the month, please contact us.

And as always, support your local businesses!
